Homecoming | A Solo Exhibition by Leo du Feu

Leo du Feu - Homecoming

Friday 22 May to Sunday 13 September 2026

In a true reflection of the word Homecoming, this exhibition is Leo du Feu's return to his Linlithgow roots.  In the gallery rooms there will be both contrasts and connections to the artist's many journeys by rail including paintings based on his home town of Linlithgow.  In this, by far, his largest solo exhibition to date, the collection will also include artworks from his annual summer residency on the Isle of May and his newly emerging work based on experiences of Fatherhood and emotional well-being.  This exhibition is the artist's full acknowledgement of the excitement and unknowns within the processes of creative painting practice.

As a 2006 Graduate of Drawing & Painting at Edinburgh College of Art, the themes of land, wildlife, environment, story, myth, mystery continue to find expression in Leo's art.  Nature is the key thread running through it all. One of the artist's top passions is sketching and painting from life, out in the landscape around Scotland, often travelling by train in his role as a ScotRail Community Rail Champion.  In 2020 the Railway Heritage Trust grant funded Leo's renovation of a long-disused building on the platform at historic Burntisland railway station.  The former waiting room is now his studio, large windows looking across the waters of the Forth to Edinburgh.  Burntisland Station Studio brings together the artist's love of rail, art and the Scottish coastline.

Leo and his wife Jennifer live with their young family in the Kingdom of Fife in the thriving coastal town of Burntisland on Scotland's beautiful east coast.
